TKS De-icing Fluid is intended to prevent or facilitate resistance to in-flight icing on aircraft equipped with TKS de-icing systems and can also be used for ground de-icing. It works as a freezing point depressant and acts as a de-icing and anti-icing agent.
- Filtered down to 0.5 micron
- For preventive and curative applications
- Neutral on paint, metal, plastic, rubber and glass
- Does not impede performance
Certification
- D.T.D. 406B
- British Joint Service Designation AL-5
- NATO Code Number S-745
Application
Use according to the P.O.H. and your TKS system manual.
General info
TKS systems are common on Diamond, Cirrus, Beechcraft, Cessna, Piper, Mooney, Kodiak and Hawker aircraft.
HOW DOES TKS WORK?
TKS ‘weeping wings’ de-icing systems are based on a system comprised of laser-drilled titanium panels on the leading edges of the wings and tail surfaces. TKS systems use a TKS ethylene glycol-based liquid to coat surfaces and prevent ice build-up. TKS fluid mixes with the ice accretion, depresses its freezing point, and allows the mixture to flow off the aircraft without freezing. Because no runback icing occurs, TKS fluid provides total airframe ice protection.
