The FSG8 is the successor of the well-known “yellow briquettes” FSG4 and FSG5 and complies with the reduced channel separation of 8.33 kHz.

Transmitter and receiver of the FSG8 handheld radio are derived from the proven ATR model series. These have been thoroughly redesigned to meet the demanding requirements for a certification.The FSG8 follows on from the FSG5 in terms of appearance and operation. However, the inner workings have been redesigned with state-of-the-art, robust electronics, high frequency accuracy and adjacent channel suppression and offers the 8.33 kHz frequencies on 2278 channels. Up to 10 frequencies can be stored in a quick access memory.

The FSG8 differs from handheld radios currently available on the market in that it has been approved as a mobile ground radio station for the mobile aeronautical radio service by the Federal Supervisory Authority for Air Traffic Control (BAF). This means that the FSG8 can also be used for air traffic control tasks.
