The IAR 99 Șoim is a Romanian military aircraft, produced by Avioane Craiova SA. Its main use is as a trainer aircraft capable of providing ground attack (CAS - close air support) missions as well as reconnaissance missions.

The first studies for a trainer aircraft to replace the L-29 model began in 1975 at INCREST. The project received funding in 1979, with the first prototype (S0001) flying on 21 December 1985. Serial production began in 1987 with a batch of ten aircraft from a total order of 50 aircraft. Deliveries began in 1988, with the ten aircraft being completed by September 1989.

The aircraft was equipped with the Rolls Royce Viper Mk.632-41M engine, produced under license at the Turbomecanica București enterprise.
