ROAF Coin of the 951st Aviation Advanced Training Squadron

IAR-99 Soim Coin - 4.5 cm diameter

This commemorative coin brings together symbols that define the identity and tradition of our squadron. On one side is the emblem inspired by the famous Donald Duck, a mascot used by the pilots of the 7th Fighter Group during World War II to personalize their aircraft and express their spirit, courage and humor in the face of the challenges of combat missions.

On the other side is the IAR-99 Şoim aircraft, the aircraft operated today by our squadron, a symbol of the continuity of tradition and excellence in flight.

The coin preserves the tradition of the pilots to show their pride and belonging to the squadron through a symbolic gesture called “coin check”. Each pilot keeps his coin close, and its mere presence serves as a sign of unity, trust and camaraderie among the crew members, reminding them of the strong bond that unites them in the air and on the ground.

Made as a collector's item, the coin is a symbol of the passion for flying, of tradition and of the aviation spirit that unites generations of Romanian pilots.
