As a rule, replace Bose A20 and Bose A30 headset ear cushions every six months or every 300 hours of use, depending on your flying frequency. You might need to replace them sooner if you: 
• Have a full beard or heavy whiskers 
• Expose the headset to extreme temperatures, such as parking your airplane outside in severe cold or heat 
• Apply excess strain on the cushions due to improper storage

Signs That Ear Cushions Need Replacing: 
• Flaking of the outer covering 
• Cuts or tears 
• Flattening of the cushion, reducing its effectiveness in sealing against your head
